Hey there, student. Welcome to Cyber 101. I'm your instructor, Dr. Gerald Auger. I'm super excited. This video, this lecture, it's a quick one. I just wanted to welcome you and get you excited and hyped for the course. The course is 15 modules long. It covers an extensive amount of the information security or cyber security industry. I like to think that this class is going an inch deep and a mile wide.

A lot of times people say, Oh, I want to work in cyber security. And the next question you always get asked is, Well, what do you want to do? A lot of people have difficulty answering that question. This course is going to enable you to not just know if you want to work in information security, but also what you'd like to do in it.

We're going to cover almost every role in the industry. We're going to touch on all of it. We're going to touch on how malicious threat actors and criminals actually perpetrate their crimes using cyber weapons. We're going to talk about cyber warfare, cryptography, the industry in general, and how to help end users different terms, technology. There's no prerequisites for this course.

But I promise you, when you're done, you will definitely be well versed in the industry and be able to understand and recognize terms. There will be labs where you'll be getting your hands on keyboard. So it's not just lecture in the labs, reinforce and help you experience what we learn in those particular modules that align to the labs.
